Phoenix Gymnastics Club

Established in 2004 our club's mission is to develop and promote Men's Artistic Gymnastics. Based in South Dublin, we cater for boys at all levels from 5 years of age upwards.  The club has all six pieces of men's artistic apparatus along with a number of training aids such as a full sized trampoline, mushrooms and various mini-apparatus. We pride ourselves in ensuring our coaches hold up to date coaching and judging qualifications.

Gymnasts from the club have represented Ireland at several internationals including World Championships, European Championships, North European Championships and Celtic Cup. Five of our gymnasts are current Irish National Squad members. We have over 80 members across all ages and levels (recreational through to elite level). Gymnasts take part in club, regional, national and international competitions. Additionally we bring our competition boys on a  foreign training camp every year. We frequently host gymnasts from overseas who are on extended stay in Ireland. We are affiliated to Gymnastics Ireland the sport's national governing body.

The 2010/2011 Competition Season did not get underway until December 2010 but the Spring of 2011 is proving very busy with several competitions over a three month period (March - May).  At the Salto open in December David Ryan won bronze at Level 7 (Junior) with Shane Lyndon and Robert Farrington obtaining new apparatus personal bests. David Ryan was named our Gymnast of The Year at our snow delayed annual awards in January. Also January saw Celtic Cup team selection with Robert and David selected on the Junior team and Shane and John on the Minor team. Ciarán McCormack was also selected on national squad. At Celtic Cup in Belfast in March Robert and David were part of Ireland's bronze medal winning Junior team whilst Shane and John performed very well at Minor level. Level 5-7 National Championships followed the weekend after Celtic Cup. Nine Phoenix gymnasts travelled to Cork to compete. Shane won bronze at Level 6 (Minor) whilst Robert (Level 7) and Jani (Level 5) narrowly missed out on medals. In April Phoenix GC hosted the Appenzeller Shield with the club winning 6 gold, 7 silver and 4 bronze medals. In May Shane, David and Robert brought home several medals from Huelva Cup in Spain. In late May we hosted the Level 2-4 National Championships. Over 20 Phoenix gymnasts took part with Rod, Simon and Gavin all missing out on medals by very small margins. See our Media Gallery and our Latest News pages for event pictures and reports.
